Deep Purple Elderberry Sour Playlist
It’s been a while since we made a playlist to go with a beer. The most recent one was this collection of reggae and sun-kissed mellow beats:
We put that together to celebrate the release of Froots & The Maytals, an extra fruity and mellow milkshake pale ale.
We’ve just tapped up the second beer in our Dublinerweisse series: a deep purple elderberry sour, finely balanced with lactose. (The first Dublinerweisse beer was the massively popular raspberry one; click here for more. The Berliner Weisse style of beer is typically very refreshing and tart and not usually high in ABV. Often cloudy and unfiltered, the Berliner Weisse style of beer is increasing seeing the addition of fruits for extra flavours and colours.)
This new elderberry sour of ours is going down a treat. It was first pouring at our Happy Days festival at the end of last month and the reviews have been glowing. It tastes – and looks – great. In fact, the deep purple hue has given us the perfect excuse to put together a guitar-heavy playlist featuring Deep Purple and a whole roll call of axe-wielding ledgebags.
You’ll find some Queens of the Stone Age and some Black Angels, you’ll stumble upon proto-grunge icons Green River, and you’ll delight in early Black Sabbath and Faith No More. Hidden gems abound from the likes of Blue Cheer and White Zombie. We’ve thrown in some Soundgarden and even represented a bit of hardcore with Fugazi and Minor Threat.
Here it is in all it’s glory:
And be sure to call in to Rascals HQ Inchicore soon before our new elderberry sour is all gone!
