A crazily good sour ale brewed with passionfruit, mango and sea buckthorn.
The Full Story
For this beer we collaborated with our good friends Mad Scientist from Budapest. We dreamt up a mango and passionfruit sour ale, with the addition of sea buckthorn. Loco gives up an amazing tropical fruit flavour and aroma combo, with the sweetness of mango and passionfruit up front nicely balanced by a sea buckthorn tart finish. Sea Buckthorn (also called seaberry) is a tangy citrus-tasting berry with a distinct sourness. Bright orange in colour, they are usually found growing along coastal areas in northern climates. (Seaberries also have three times the amount of Vitamin C as oranges!) We included wheat in the grain bill for a bit of extra body and slightly cloudy complexion.
